MICROCONTROLLER & IoT PROJECT COMPETITION

The Department of Electronics & Communication (Advanced Communication Technology), in collaboration with SAKEC AICTE IDEA LAB, hosted an hardware Competition titled “Microcontroller & IoT Project Competition 2025” on 19th April 2025 — this competition effectively achieved its intended outcomes, marking a clear success!

At the beginning of Semester 4, a competition along with the merge of the Mini-Project of Microcontroller & IoT subject  was announced during the lab practical sessions, which provided students with an excellent opportunity to explore the concepts of development boards and microcontrollers—specifically ESP32 and NodeMCU—in a more creative and practical manner. The PCBs were hand-soldered and assembled by the students on the 11th and 12th of January – Devboard. This initiative helped deepen their understanding and encouraged hands-on learning. Under the guidance and motivation of the Head of Department, Mr. Shridhar Sahu, students were inspired to design innovative projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations.

One of the major highlights of this competition was the use of the SAKEC AICTE IDEA LAB state-of-the-art resources. Some teams used the 3D printing available in the Idea lab to design and build their hardware models, giving their projects a polished, real-world finish. This hands-on support truly helped elevate the technical depth and creativity of the competition.

We were also thrilled to have a special guest Dr.Y.S.Rao, Vice Principal , Dean – Academics and Research, S.P.I.T. (Sardar Patel Institute of Technology) joined us as the judge for the day. His presence added a professional touch, and his feedback was insightful and encouraging for all the budding innovators.

After some tough decision-making, we had five winners:

  • One First Prize: for the most outstanding project
    (Automated Breathing Aid)
  • Two Second Prizes: for projects that really impressed with both concept and execution
(Baby Care Bot) & (IOT Based Robotic Arm)
  •  Two Third Prizes for teams that showed great creativity and potential
(IOT Based Wireless Charging System for electric Vehicle)
& (IOT Based Autonomous Grass Cutting Robot)

A huge shoutout to all the participants for putting in the effort and making the event so vibrant and competitive. Every project had something unique to offer, and it was inspiring to see such passion and innovation in action.

We’re very grateful to our Principal, Dr. Bhavesh Patel, and our Head Of Department, Mr. Shridhar Sahu, for their constant support and encouragement. A big shoutout to Ms. Amisha Bhoir and Ms. Monika Ingale, our amazing event coordinators, for putting in so much effort to make sure everything ran smoothly

Big thanks to the organizing team and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the day run smoothly. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to the SAKEC AICTE Idea Lab for supporting this initiative and encouraging hands-on learning.

This competition wasn’t just about winning — it was about learning, sharing ideas, and pushing boundaries. It truly brought the spirit of microcontrollers and IoT to life, and left everyone looking forward to what’s next.
