Electrochemical tools in investigating the corrosion processes and their protections_ 6th May 2023

The General Science & Humanities Department of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College in collaboration with SAKEC library NDLI club was organized a expert lecture on “Electrochemical tools in investigating the corrosion processes and their protections” to empower the knowledge of First Year Engineering students on 6th May 2023. The speaker of the day, Dr. Ashish Kumar Satpati from Bhaba Atomic Research Centre explained how to investigate different types of corrosion processes and their protective measures. Approximately 560 students had participated in the lecture. It was a very well explained and interactive Session went for 01:30 hours. Students asked queries which were cleared by Dr. Ashish Kumar Satpati. At the end there was a quiz to understand the effectiveness of the session. The event ended with great feedback from the participants.

“Short Video Competition on Green Chemistry” 23rd July 2021

With the objectives to appreciate the efforts of student for the activity and provide the platform to showcase the exemplary work done by First Year Engineering student, a “Short Video Competition on Green Chemistry” was organized by the Department of General Science and Humanities of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College on 23rd July, 2021. The activity enhanced the attribute of sustainable development and team work amongst the students.

First Year Engineering students were assigned short video making activity in the month of May 2021 as a part of Teaching Learning Activity. On announcement of competition for the same, there was overwhelming response from students with participation by 59 teams.

Prof. Dr A. Q. Contractor, former Professor Department of Chemistry, IIT Bombay was the honorable judge for the competition.

The winning teams for video competition were

1st position- “Solution Squad” , 2nd– position was shared by two teams “The Fantabulous Five” and “The Catalysts” and the 3rd position-“Tempest”.

Philo Physics Mobile Application Launch, 8th February 2021

Students and Faculty from the General Science and Humanities Department of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College launched a mobile application named ‘Philo Physics’ on 8th February 2021 at the Google play store. This application was designed to help students to learn Engineering Physics effortlessly. Considering the after-effects of the covid-19 pandemic, this application provides FREE OF COST study material at the fingertips of students.
This application has following features:

• Notes
• Formula Lists
• Derivations in the form of concept maps
• Solved and unsolved numericals
• Last Minute Revision LMRs
• Quizzes

The above application was developed by Ms. Shraddha Pawar, Ms. Miloni Gada, Mr. Aagam Sheth and Mr. Shubham Shah under the guidance of Dr. Namrataa Kkommineni.

ENERGY EFFICIENT ELECTRIC CAR

A Team of First Year Engineering students from shah and anchor kutchhi engineering college, chembur, Mumbai made an electric car to learn something out of their understanding, curriculum and gain a fair amount of engineering knowledge out of it, at a metal fabrication workshop in Mulund, Mumbai and was presented as the show stopper for the annual technical fest of shah and anchor kutchhi engineering college, chembur, Mumbai on 1st April 2016. The car was named “Energy Efficient Electric Car” which was powered by sealed lead acid chemistry batteries and had a range of 50 to 80 Km at one charge, with a top speed of 81.67Km/h.

Poster Presentation and Short Video Competition on Green Chemistry

The event was organized with an objective to develop the attribute of sustainable development among the students by keeping the young minds engaged with some creative as well as knowledge enhancing group activity specially during this Pandemic situation.

The programme was hugely successful with over whelming response from students and Faculties from different Colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai as well as outside. Dr Rajnarayan Saha from NIT West Bengal and Dr. Sudam Dawande from ICT Mumbai were the honorable judges for the competition.
Following were the winning teams.

Exhibition of Mini Project- Engineering Physics

With a vision to expand the imagination and practical expertise of the students at First Year Engineering, an “Exhibition of Mini project” of Engineering Physics was organized by the Department of General Science and Humanities at Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College on 7th March, 2020.

The First Year Engineering student at the college enthusiastically participated in the exhibition. The students, through their projects, demonstrated their imagination, knowledge and skills in the field of Engineering Physics during the exhibition.The exhibition displayed 82 working projects which were judged by eminent Physicists, Dr. Alexander Geevarghese and Dr. (Mrs.) Usha Goyal.

The First prize at the exhibition was won by the project titled “Anti- Gravity Wheel” by the project group led by Ms. Aditi Bailur and the second prize went to the project titled “Automated Solar Street lighting system” by the project group led by Mr. Manish Gupta.

24th January,2020 ENGINEERING PHYSICS APP- II LAUNCH

A team of FE students Mr. Linesh Patil (FE-IX), Ms. Yashika Shetty (FE-IX), Ms. Divya Jain (FE-IX) and Mr. Yash Ughade (FE-IV) along with SE student Ms. Shraddha Pawar and /TE student Ms. Priyanka Singh under the guidance of Dr. Namrata Manglani (Assitant Professor, Engineering Science Department, SAKEC) created an application named as Engineering Physics-II. The launch of this application on Google play store was done on 24th January 2020 from Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College.

Salient features of the application which is totally FREE OF COST are:

1.Physics calculator: Through this feature, students can calculate the result of the problem statement. This feature works best in case of direct problem statements. Formula used for calculation is displayed too.
2.Solved examples: It consists of proper step wise solution for all types of problems.
3.Formula list is provided for revision and reference.
4.Well organized notes in question answer pattern for reference.

Physics Teachers’ Orientation Program, 25th September,2019

The Physics Teachers’ Orientation for the revised ‘Engineering Physics’ syllabus effective from August 2019 was conducted by the Engineering Science Department at Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur, Mumbai on 25th September 2019.
The event was attended by 75 external participants from several engineering colleges in Mumbai and distant suburban regions, affiliated to University of Mumbai. The participants actively interacted with each other and prepared an action plan for the syllabus effective from August 2019.

FE student Ms. Shraddha Pawar under the guidance of Dr. Namrata Manglani (Assitant Professor, Engineering Science Department, SAKEC) created an application named as Engineering Physics-I. The launch of this application on Google play store was inaugurated by Dr. S.K. Ukrande (Dean Faculty of Science & Technology) on 25th September 2019 at Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College.

PHYSICS PROJECT EXHIBITION, 25th September,2019

First Year students demonstrated several working Physics Projects on the occasion Physics Teachers’ Orientation Program for the revised ‘Engineering Physics’ syllabus effective from August 2019 that was conducted by the Engineering Science Department at Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur, Mumbai on 25th September 2019.

Student Induction Program-2019

On Day 1 of the Student Induction Program 2019-20 , Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel addressed all the students of First Year Engineering, at the 7th Floor Auditorium. He provided very useful insight about the college and it’s rules and regulations, to the students. This was followed by Diagnostic Tests conducted in the computer laboratories, where students were tested for their Mathematics, English and Computer Fundamentals. Post lunch, a Motivational Talk by Dr. Narayan Iyer from Indian Development Foundation was arranged for the students, which they enjoyed immensely.

On Day 2 of the Student Induction Program 2019-20 , Orientation Session by the Heads of The Departments was held, where the respective HODs talked to students in detail about the departmental
infrastructure and activities. This was followed by interactive Meeting with Mentors and visit to the library. Students also visited the Gymkhana to experience the various state of the art facilities provided in the gymnasium.Post lunch, a session on IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) was conducted by Dr.Vinit Kotak( Branch counselor of IEEE SAKEC and Vice Chair, IEEE Bombay Section), during which he shared the significance of IEEE and it’s activities with the students.
A session about CSI (Computer Society of India) , another professional body for the students, was
conducted by Prof. Rekha Ramesh.

On Day 3 of the Student Induction Program 2019-20 , a session on Yoga-Prana Vidya was arranged for the students on the 7th Floor auditorium. It was conducted by Ms. Saloni Shah , a practicing healer and Yoga Prana Vidya expert. The session was very interesting and lively and students learnt a lot about de-stressing and healing methods. Prof. Shashikant Radke and Prof. Neelam Jagtap , conducted a very motivating session about Universal Human Values. Post lunch, the Exam-Cell in-charge, Prof. Aruna Sharma addressed the students. A session about the significance of IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers) was conducted by Prof. Vinutha Prasad (I/C HOD, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and

On Day 4 of the Student Induction Program 2019-20 started with a session by esteemed Brahmakumaris Speaker, Mr. B K Harish Mehta, on ” Stress management in Engineering studies”, on the 7th floor auditorium. The students were motivated to integrate spiritualism and technology and how to manage stress during Engineering career. A session on Aerobics was conducted by Ms. Kaanchi Gupta and Ms. Naasha Bhot from “2 to Tango” Dance company, at the foyer. The students had lot of fun and danced to their heart’s content. The next of the day, was an orientation session on ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) by Prof.Swati Nadkarni ( I/c HOD, Department of Information Technology ), which informed students about the various activities conducted by the professional body and how ACM helps them launch their careers.The next session was a Motivational Talk by Prof.Shashikant Radke on universal human values, which was followed by a session on Finance by Prof. Neelam Jagtap.IETE Students Forum Coordinator).

On Day 5 of the Student Induction Program 2019-20 started with a talk on Organ Donation, by Shri Jetsey Bhai Jaisal, Dr. Prashant Kumar Maharana ( Resident Medical Officer, National Burns Centre) and Mr. Navin Vazirani( Hospital Coordinator, National Burns Centre). The students understood the importance of saving lives by pledging their organs.On the foyer, a Zumba session was arranged, which was conducted by Zumba experts, Ms.Simran Sharma, Ms. Ruchika Raj Sahani and Mr. Rohan Sharma. The students had lot of fun along with exercise. Post lunch, a very informative session about leading a healthy lifestyle was conducted by Ms.Namita Shah (Proprietor, Namita’s Fitness Hub) and Mr. Gaurav Iyer.A talk encouraging students to bravely follow their aspirations, titled ‘Dare To Dream’ was held by Dr. Neeta Mishra, Brand Ambassador of IDF(Indian Development Foundation).The importance of savings and investment from a young age, was explained by Prof. Neelam Jagtap, in a video session on finance. The day concluded with the Conclusion Meeting and Certificate Distribution for the team, on the 7 th floor auditorium.

PHYSICS PROJECT EXHIBITION: October 2017

First Year students demonstrated several working Physics Projects and models at the Physics Exhibition that was conducted by the Physics Department under the Engineering Science Department at Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur, Mumbai on 16th October 2017.
At this event Mr. Anuj Shah of FE-IV received first prize for his project titled “Crystal Structure studies using Augmented Reality” by external Judge Dr. Alexander from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
