Department of Electronics and Communication (Advanced Communication Technology) in association with IETE SAKEC successfully organized an industrial visit to “BSNL Telecom Factory, Deonar, Mumbai” on 27th March 2025 from 11:00 am onwardsfor SY ACT students. This industrial visit was coordinated by Mr. Bhushan Pawar and Ms. Monika Ingale, faculty members from the ACT department.
Industrial Visit Highlights:
- PLB Making: Students visited the PLB pipe manufacturing site, where they gained insights into the production process and the essential tools and techniques involved. It provided insights in its uses and different types of PLB.
- Fiber Optic Splice Closure Assembling: Demonstration of the step-by-step process of assembling splice closures, including fiber splicing, sealing techniques, and the use of protective enclosures.
- SIM Card Manufacturing: Students observed the step-by-step production process, including chip embedding and circuit programming. They also witnessed quality control measures as well as testing procedures for a SIM card.
The industrial visit to the BSNL telecom factory provided students with valuable insights into the manufacturing processes of PLB pipes, fiber optic joint closures, and SIM cards. Observing these operations firsthand enhanced their understanding of telecom infrastructure and the precision required in each stage of production. The visit bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with a deeper appreciation for the advancements in the telecom industry.
