The Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Department, in collaboration with IETE-SAKEC & IETE-CoE of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, recently organized a Student Development Program (SDP) in the form of a hands-on workshop on the Applications of AI. The event, held on January 6, 2024, featured two distinguished international speakers: Dr. Sanjan T.P. Gupta, a Machine Learning Scientist from the Biosciences Cluster, Corporate Research Labs, USA, and Mr. Prateek Verma, an expert international speaker from Stanford University, USA.
Dr. Gupta’s session focused on “Explore Generative AI & NLP in Healthcare,” offering a comprehensive overview, theoretical foundations, and a hands-on workshop exploring applications in medical image analysis, patient records, and clinical decision support. Mr. Verma’s session, “Dive into Multimodal Generative AI: Seeing, Hearing, Reading,” delved into advanced topics within Generative AI, emphasizing integrating visual data, textual information, and auditory components for comprehensive healthcare solutions. The workshop concluded with positive participant feedback, expressing appreciation for the practical demonstrations and a keen interest in applying AI concepts to healthcare research projects.
The expert speakers’ insights added depth to their understanding, and they expressed interest in further exploring Generative AI and NLP applications in specific domains. Overall, the workshop successfully enriched participants’ knowledge, equipping them to explore innovative solutions within the healthcare domain using advanced AI technologies. Combining theoretical insights, hands-on activities, and expert discussions contributed to a well-rounded learning experience. A total of 30 students from various departments participated in the workshop.
This SDP aimed to provide participants with a holistic view of Generative AI and NLP applications in healthcare, combining theoretical insights with practical, hands-on activities. Dr. Bhavesh Patel, the Principal, delivered closing remarks, and Mr. Rohan Borgalli, the Coordinator, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks. The participants appreciated the in-depth coverage of multimodal AI concepts, finding the practical demonstrations insightful and applicable.
