IEEE SAKEC in collaboration with IEEE DBIT is organizing a 2-day workshop on ” Web Development” using WordPress WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHPand MySQL. It is used by more than 60 million websites including 30.6% of the top 10 million websites. WordPress is the most popular website management system in use. Top websites Created Using WordPress: • Microsoft News centre • Facebook Newsroom • Prime Minister Modi’s Official website • Harvard University Graduate School of Design • Walt Disney • Official Starwars Blog • Sony Music • MTV News • Playstation • Mercedes Benz • Usain Bolt And many more… The workshop will cover the following things:- • Basics of Hosting & Domain • Setting up WordPress and connecting with MYSQL • Choosing of Themes and essential Plugins • Basic website structure • Tools for building WordPress website • Security & Responsiveness • Optimization of website • Search Engine Optimization(SEO) And Much more… Important Instructions: Participants are requested to form a team of 5 people for developing the website. Participants are requested to carry their Laptops for better understanding (Not compulsory) If an individual is not able to form a group, we will create the group for Him/Her. Day 1 Workshop: The Speaker will guide you and teach you all the above listed things and the participants will set up their Hosting and Domain and get WordPress installed. Day2: Hands on Development: The participants will get to create their own website and showcase their skills developed and learned on Day 1. Lunch will be provided on both the days and all participants will be given IEEE SAKEC goodies.
