Student Induction Program (SIP) Academic Year 2023-24

Phase – I SIP Phase – II SIP Phase – III SIP

Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College has organized Student Induction Program – Phase II for new undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering Program for the Academic – Year 2023-24. The Phase II conducted from 7th August 2023 to 11th August 2023. This Student Induction Program is intended to assist students as they adjust to college life.

On Day – 1 i.e., on 7th August 2023, session started with the introduction and application of Mathematics. Then puzzle games were played to test the thinking ability of the students followed by a quiz on Mathematical Structures. After that, a number-forming activity was done in which students were asked to form 4 and 5-digit numbers which students enjoyed thoroughly. Later, Questions based on mathematics were asked from the audio and video clips on probability and knot theory games. Towards the end of the session, students played a snake and ladder game in which questions based on Mathematics were asked to move the steps after rolling the dice. The session was highly interactive and energetic, in which students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed a lot.

On Day – 2 i.e., on 8th August 2023, session started with creating awareness among students about Research Cell & Activities and explaining to students the importance of accelerated skill development and how to achieve it with the help of Research Cell. They provided a gist of the completed & ongoing projects under the Research Cell along with a bundle of opportunities to work along with the Research Cell. The next session was organized on the topic of Strength of your piggy bank which was conducted by Dr. Vinit Kotak. He Motivated the students towards insightful self-exploration through questions and certain examples. He spoke about the right understanding, Physical facilities, relationships and harmony. He emphasized and discussed the importance of Saving in the long term. Students explored about right understanding for self and others. A short video was shown to emphasize the need of planned Investment and saving in daily life. He asked students their aspirations and steps they are going to take to fulfill them. The students were given a proposal for self -exploration through certain examples.

On Day – 3 i.e., on 9th August 2023, session organized on Play with Electronics and Universal Human Value. The objective of the Play with Electronics session is to make student feel comfortable in the field of Electronics by exploring skills after providing a broader view of innovative and trending state-of-the-art applications that will help student in the development and designing of futuristic electronic products. The next session was based on self-development through the Right Understanding by relationship with others and own self. Prof Neelam started the session by exploring students Self-Aspiration, the effort to achieve it and the outcome of it. Students were asked to express their views related to Happiness and prosperity. The human value such as trust was explored through the discussion with examples. “Right Here, Right Now “videos were shown to students to exemplify the Importance of human values. Prof Jagat Manral discussed Mutual Harmony and coexistence with students. The session was quite Interactive. Students shared their observations about the videos.

On Day – 4 i.e., on 10th August 2023, session organized on Preamble activities. Session started with different team-building activities to help newly admitted students get to know each other. In this activity they have practiced selling a product in an innovative way. Then we conducted communication and logical reasoning skills building using origami paper activity. This activity encouraged communication between students while also providing entertainment and a creative outlet. The session was very useful considering the physical as well as Mental Health issues of students. Students also learnt the need for team building, leadership and also thriving in a new environment. The whole exercise improved their communication skills with their batch mates. Students also participated in Quizzes and the speaker also Guided them as how to remain focused in their goals and handle stress.

On Day – 5 i.e., on 11th August 2023, sessions on Engineering Chemistry and Engineering Physics were conducted. In the first session of Fun with Chemistry, Dr. archana nath welcomed the students with a hidden message which appeared on spraying NaOH solution. Interaction with students was done to know their view on chemistry in daily life by using word cloud and open-ended questions. Later, chemistry experiments were demonstrated by Ms Megha Kurhade and Mr Prakash Yewale to the students’ which they enjoyed thoroughly. Ms Neelam Jagtap and Ms Radharani conducted an interesting game on chemistry to create awareness that learning can be a great fun. This was followed by a video on Molecular shape of you & the chemistry song. The session was concluded with prize distribution.
Fun with Physics session focused on the importance of Physics in Engineering. An introductory note on the need for Physics in Engineering was conducted by Dr. Sushma Srivastava. It emphasized upon strengthening the principles and concepts of Physics which are a gateway to understanding and implementing a broad spectrum of engineering applications. A quiz competition was conducted by Dr. Smita Srivastava where students were asked to identify stalwarts in the field of Physics. They were asked to give a brief account on their contribution in physics after identification. Subsequently ‘Dumb charades’ was conducted by Prof. Sowjanya Reddy. In the event, a student from the audience was made to explain laws and principles of physics with actions and gestures only and others in the audience were supposed to identify the same. The session was thoroughly enjoyed by them. Engineering Physics has mini projects as a part of curriculum. Hence the session incorporated a live demonstration of some application-oriented projects of physics by previous year first year students. This activity was conducted by Dr. Dr. Namrata Manglani-Kommineni. It was an interactive session which clearly exhibited the importance of physics principles in Engineering applications.
