IEI STUDENT CHAPTER INAUGURATION CEREMONY – 17/03/2025

The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] Inauguration Event was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm and participation on 17th March 2025 in 7th floor auditorium of SAKEC. The event aimed to mark the beginning of the IEI chapter at the institute, bringing together students, faculty, and esteemed dignitaries to celebrate the spirit of engineering excellence and innovation.
Our respected Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel then addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of IEI in fostering professional growth and technical excellence among students. Mr. V. C. Kamble and Dr. Mohan Dagaonkar Chairman and Secretary, IEI, Navi Mumbai, delivered an inspiring speech, sharing insights into the role of IEI in shaping future engineers and the numerous opportunities available through active participation in the organization.
The event continued with an address by Dr.Subha Subramaniam(HOD,ECS) who highlighted the role of faculty and students in ensuring the success of the IEI chapter. The event concluded with Dr.Asha Durafe , Faculty Advisor, IEI-SAKEC delivering a Vote of Thanks. A total of 69 attendees participated in the event.

National Service Scheme (NSS) – SAKEC

About

SAKEC-NSS (National Service Scheme) unit is a voluntary association of young student volunteers under the University of Mumbai. It is a unit of 50 volunteers established in the academic year 2020-2021 aims at developing students’ personalities through community service. The unit was increased to 100 volunteers in the academic year 2022-2023. The Motto of National Service scheme (NSS) is “Not Me But You”, gives the essence of democratic living and encourage the need for self-less service.

FARMER’S CRISIS

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and SAKEC Movie club in Collaboration with NSS SAKEC have organized an event on Farmer’s Crisis on 25th August 2023 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The session on the ongoing farmer’s crisis shed light on the multifaceted challenges faced by agricultural communities.
Mr. Rohit Parakh was invited as a speaker for this important discussion about farmer’s crisis. He is working on ecologically and economically remunerative agriculture for Farmers from social enterprise and advocacy perspective. He elaborated on the issues and problems faced by the farmers and how we can provide a helping hand to them and also gave information about organic farming.
The event began by reciting Saraswati Vandana,followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest and a small address to the students. It was followed by a few words of wisdom by Dr. T.P Vinutha, Head of the Department of Electronics & Telecommunication and Head of SAKEC NSS Dr. Pinky Vishwakarma. The Speaker showed us a video related to the topic of the event and also gave information on the same. The discussion emphasized the critical issues encompassing this crisis, which include fluctuating market prices, inadequate access to modern technology and resources, and policy constraints. The lack of financial support mechanisms and the burden of debt were highlighted as major contributors to the crisis, leading to distress among farming households.
The session underscored the urgency of collaborative efforts to address these issues, aiming to ensure food security, sustainable livelihoods, and the overall well-being of farming communities. Later, participants raised their doubts and concerns regarding this issue. The event ended with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

Movie Club Session: Climate Change

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering in Collaboration with MUSE foundation have organized the session on ” Climate change” on 14th September 2022 from 10.00 am to 12:00 pm
The speaker for this event was Mr. Tanmay Shinde. Mr. Tanmay Shinde is an environment & IT professional. He is a part of youth of Aarey , Fridays for future, save our coast and other Mumbai collectives. He raises his voice towards all the environmental wrongs in the city and country. He is regularly involved in tree plantation & clean up drives.
In the session the speaker talked about the various climate changes occurring in the environment due to various new technologies. Also, he explained how these climate changes have an effect on our human life. To explain this more in detail he has shown some short films to the students. This session helped students to understand what effect our actions can have on the environment and how responsibly we all should use the resources. Also, as future engineering students were motivated to think about what solution can the design to reduce the effect on the environment.

Launch of SAKEC Movie Club

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering in Collaboration with MUSE foundation has organized launch of SAKEC Movie club on 27th July 2022 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering college have signed MoU with Muse foundation for implementation and functioning of MUSE movie club in the premises of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering college
For this event along with the members of MUSE foundation three youth activists Mr. Tabrez ali sayyed, Ms. Manisha Dhinde and Mr. Ankit Dave were also present for the launch. Mr. Tabrez ali sayyed is a youth activist and environmentalist . He is a core member of the Aarey conservation group. He played a very active part in the save aarey movement since last 5 years. In his session he mostly spoke about acheiveing a balance between the human made world and the natural world.
Ms. Manisha Dhinde is an Adivasi resident of Aarey and she is also a part of an indigenous community whose lives will be directly impacted by the construction of Metro car shed inside Aarey.
Keeping up with the theme of our launch that is the environment. All the speakers and guests talked about the current issue of the construction of a Metro car shed inside Aarey. They have also shown a short movie which was giving the message that how our lives will be affected if we destroy all the forest from Mumbai City. The event was more effective as the speakers shared their own life experiences staying inside Aarey along with the animals and the volunteers who fought to save the forest inside the Mumbai city.

“This club is one of the dynamic non-technical clubs of Sakec. The club focuses on all kinds of speaking events, debate, extempore, quiz, etc. The inter-collegiate Mumbai level quiz is a signature event of our club.

This club started its journey on 4th February 2017 by a bunch of enthusiastic FE’s. At present, it hosts students from all branches of all years of engineering.

Roles and Responsibilities

To ensure proper functioning of SAKEC Speakers ‘Club activities, various committees are formed to assign specific responsibilities. Figure shows the different committees of SAKEC. -Speakers’ Club. There is a Head and Co-Head for each committee. The committee members are selected annually through the rigorous process of interview conducted by the existing committee with the staff coordinator in the loop. For each event different teams work in a very cohesive way to achieve outcomes of that event.

The responsibilities include:

  • Organizing events aligning to the objectives of SAKEC Speakers’ Club.

  • Publicize the event through various media such as banners, posters, social media and face-to-face communication.

  • Facilitate the registration process of the candidate.

  • Providing all the technical support before and during the conduction of the event.

  • Documenting the various activities of the event.

  • Extending hospitality to participants from other colleges.

  • Ensuring discipline during the event.

  • Ensuring the event is captured for future reference.

Robo Club

About

Robotics is a very popular interdisciplinary branch of engineering, which includes Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT engineering, etc. The purpose of SAKEC Robo Club is to develop interest in the field of robotics among the student community and to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents in different fields of engineering and keep themselves abreast with recent technology.
The Club provides workspace, tools, and guidance to interested students. The Club provides an opportunity to participate in national or international level competitions.
SAKEC Robo Club inaugurated on 5-4-2018 by Dr. T. A. Dwarakanath, Scientific Officer-H, Division of Remote Handling & Robotics. Professor, Homi Bhabha National Institute. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Trombay, Mumbai 400085, India.
SAKEC Robo Club has set up Embedded System and Robotics Laboratory with support of e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI). eLSI supports the infrastructure creation at colleges by providing a platform for training teachers both in the theory and applications of Robotics.

Mobile App Development Using Flutter

The SAKEC Robo Club, in collaboration with the ECS Department, organized a session, “Mobile App Development using Flutter,” on January 25, 2025, at Lab 202 from 10:00 am to 4 pm. Mr. Manohar Acharya was the speaker at this event.

Students learned Dart Language from scratch in this session, which forms the foundation of App Development using Flutter. The session covered how the mobile applications work behind the scenes, with practical demonstrations of API Testing. In addition, version-controlled systems like Git and GitHub were introduced, teaching the students how to collaborate efficiently on app development projects.

The program facilitated hands-on experience and deepened my understanding of mobile app development using Flutter.

Hands-on Training for Faculty on Robotics and Embedded Systems

Introduction

The Robotic Club organized a 9-day hands-on training workshop for faculty members on Robotics and Embedded Systems. The workshop aimed to provide practical exposure to electronic components, microcontrollers, sensors, motor drivers, and programming skills essential for robotic applications. The training was designed to equip faculty members with the necessary skills to guide students in the newly developed Exploration Laboratory, set to be introduced in the Even semester of the academic year 2024-25.

The workshop was structured into three daily sessions covering theoretical concepts, programming, and hands-on practice.

Workshop Outcomes:
1. Faculty Training: 21 faculty members and 8 lab assistants were successfully trained in Robotics and Embedded Systems.
2. Project Development: Participants developed a line-following robot and a Bluetooth-controlled robot using Arduino microcontrollers.
3. Lab Training: Faculty members are now equipped to train students in the newly developed Exploration Laboratory.
4. Curriculum Development: A structured Exploration Laboratory syllabus was prepared, which will be introduced in the Even semester of AY 2024-25 (January 2025 – April 2025).

Conclusion
1. The hands-on training program was highly effective in enhancing the technical expertise of faculty members in robotics and embedded systems.
2. The workshop provided an in-depth understanding of microcontroller-based systems and their applications, ensuring that the faculty is well-prepared to mentor students in innovative robotic projects.
3. The introduction of the Exploration Laboratory syllabus will further strengthen practical learning, fostering research and development in robotics at the institution.

e-Yantra Lab Inauguration (Embedded Systems & Robotics Lab)

On 20th December 2018, online Embedded Systems & Robotics Laboratory (e-Yantra Lab.) inaugurations were organized by e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) – IIT Bombay. Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College is one of the 27 colleges across India where this inauguration ceremony has been done. Online Embedded Systems & Robotics Laboratory (e-Yantra Lab.) Inauguration is supported by e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) – IIT Bombay and funded by MHRD under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT). E-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) is a program under which colleges are encouraged to set up robotics laboratories. It is designed as a scalable and sustainable approach that addresses infrastructure creation and teacher training – to create an eco-system at the colleges to impart effective engineering education.
The inauguration was conducted on the fourth-floor auditorium at 11 o’clock, along with many other colleges across India. All the colleges, along with IIT Bombay coordinators, were connected to each other online by ‘Go To Meeting’ software. DR. KAVI ARYA, head of the e-yantra initiative at IIT Bombay, was present online. SAKEC was in second position for the online inauguration. SAKEC’s turn inauguration began with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel, Vice Principal Dr. Vinit Kotak, SAKEC Robo Club In-charge Prof. Jagdish Sarode, Head of Electronics Department, Dr. Subha Subramaniam and members of SAKEC Robo Club. This was followed by the inauguration
of the signage board of the Embedded Systems & Robotics Laboratory (e-Yantra Lab.). Faculty members who have completed e-Yantra Task Based Training (e-Yantra TBT) have been handed over the Robots provided by IIT Bombay. Then, certificates of merit were handed over to the faculty who had completed the e-Yantra TBT workshop by the Principal. Dr. Bhavesh Patel gave best wishes to the team. After completion of the inauguration of the e-Yantra Lab at SAKEC by college dignitaries, DR. KAVI ARYA, principal investigator of e-Yantra, IIT Bombay, online inaugurated the e-Yantra lab of SAKEC along with other colleges by sharing his best wishes to the new start.

SAKEC Robo Club Inauguration

SAKEC Robo Club was inaugurated in 5th April 2018 by Dr. T. A. Dwarkanath, Scientific Officer-H, Division of Robotics & Remote Handling, BARC, Mumbai, along with Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel, Vice Principal Dr. V. C. Kotak, and Heads of the Departments. Dr. T. A. Dwarkanath addressed the gathering about the emerging technologies in the Robotics field, and during his presentation, he introduced the use of Robotics in remote handling of atomic material in BARC.

Red Hat Academy is an educational program designed to provide students and professionals with training and certification in Red Hat technologies. It offers a range of courses on Linux, cloud computing, containerization, automation, and other open-source technologies used by Red Hat. The academy partners with universities, colleges, and training centers globally, enabling access to hands-on labs, courseware, and certification exams to help learners develop valuable skills for careers in IT infrastructure, DevOps, and software development.
Through the academy, Red Hat helps bridge the skills gap by training individuals and IT professionals to work with Red Hat’s technologies, ensuring they are well-prepared for the modern, open-source-based IT infrastructure that many organizations use. The program also helps in developing a pipeline of skilled professionals who are certified and knowledgeable about Red Hat’s solutions.
In the academic year 2018-2019, Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Red Hat Linux, becoming an Academic Red Hat Linux Partner. This collaboration provides students with a valuable opportunity to enroll in the Red Hat Linux International Certification courses, including preparation for the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exams. The program is designed to offer comprehensive theoretical knowledge alongside extensive hands-on lab exercises, ensuring students gain practical experience with Red Hat technologies.

The journey of SAKEC as a Red Hat Linux Academic partner has been a successful one.
Our student Veerapathiramoorthy Pillai from Final year Computer Engineering has proven that a “Pandemic situation is not a problem but, an opportunity for those who want to succeed at any cost”.

He has become the Second Red Hat Certified System Administrator of the institute. He appeared for the RHCSA examination on 10th November 2020 and scored 300 out of 300 marks.

It’s our pleasure to announce that the inauguration ceremony of Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) global certifications training course was conducted on 6th August 2019. The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of our managing trustee Shree.Navinbhai Shah, Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel, Vice Principal Dr. V.C. Kotak, I/c Head of Department (Electronics Engineering) Dr. Subha Subramaniam, I/c Head of Department (Computer Engineering) Prof. Uday Bhave along with Industry experts Ms. Archana Kharat and Mr. Amit Ladge. Computer Engineering department has taken this initiative to provide a golden opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skills. The ceremony was concluded with the motivational speech of Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel which further boosted enthusiasm among participants. The ceremony followed by the first session of the course conducted by industry expert Mr. Ramesh Karat and Mr. Amit Ladge.

The Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. It started in 2010.
We at Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College are a team of Professors under the leadership of our principal collaborating with IIT Bombay to take software education to the masses and to Bridge the Digital Divide! We conduct workshops and tests on various open source software available at the Spoken Tutorials website http://spoken-tutorial.org for our college students. On successful completion of the online test, certificates obtained from IIT are given to the students. We began with Spoken Tutorials around 2013 with a small group of students on trial bases and now since 2015 we try to cover students from all the branches and all classes.

Sambodhi

About

SAKEC Sambodhi is the institute’s Writers’ Cell, was established in July 2019 to encourage students and staff to participate in creative writing and effectively harness their writing skills. By providing prompts every month and posting them on the institute’s Facebook page, Sambodhi makes sure that all articles are curated and posted.

Objectives: 

  1. To encourage students and staff to participate in creative writing and effectively harness their writing skills.
  2. To provide a platform to everyone at SAKEC for expressing their opinions and views, through prose and poems in four different languages.
  3. To enhance the writing and communication capabilities of students and staff by encouraging them to reflect and pen down their thoughts regularly on varied topics.
  4. To collaborate with other bodies to promote writing.

We received more than 20 responses. Each of them was posted on our Instagram Handle and winners in each category were declared.

2 Independence Day Contest Patriotic prose and poems were accepted from August 1 to August 10, 2024.

The winners in English, Hindi and Marathi were declared. The winners, Hrishikesh, Nikhil and Vrushabh recited their work during the Independence Day 2024 celebrations of the institution.

3 SAKEC Sambodhi Orientation Session- September- SIP 2024 On 6th September 2024, SAKEC Sambodhi team of staff and students conducted an orientation session for the newly joined First Year students, during Student Induction Program 2024.

Prof. Preethi Warrier and Prof. Aprajita Bera formally introduced the Writer’s Cell, and the students, Nikhil Eppili, Jasmita Sapariya and Pankti Thakkar, presented the objectives and functioning of Sambodhi. They also recited their work in Englih, Hindi and Gujarati.

Cisco: Nexus 2024 – 2nd April 2024

On April 2nd, 2024, SAKEC CISCO hosted the highly anticipated “Networking Nexus,” an event designed to elevate participants’ skills and help them earn valuable certifications in the field of networking. Best Performance Award – 1st February 2024

Shah and Anchor Kutcchi Engineering College has achieved a remarkable milestone with over 1000+ students and 20+ faculties successfully completing various courses in collaboration with Cisco. This outstanding achievement led to the college being honoured with the Best Performance Award for the academic year 2023-24 at the Cisco Networking Academy Conference – India 2024. The prestigious award was received by Prof. Mahesh Patil and Dr. Rashmi Malvankar, representing Shah and Anchor Kutcchi Engineering College, during the conference held on February 1, 2024, in Bangalore.

Alumni Meet SAMPARKA 2024

On 20th January 2024, the SAKEC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION organized a successful “SAMPARKA 2024” event to reunite with alumni and strengthen the relationship between the college and its previous students. The session began at 4:30 PM with alumni registration and a warm greeting. At 5:30 PM, the event started with a prayer and a welcome speech from the college’s principal. A mesmerizing Ganesh Vandana dance captivated the audience. The alumni and teachers also had an interaction session. Current students showcased talents in group dance, followed by drama and singing performances. Alumni enthusiastically captured moments with former classmates and faculty, preserving memories for years. Further, dinner in the canteen facilitated alumni reunions. The day concluded with a lively DJ night in the college foyer. Overall, SAMPARKA 2024 was a successful event that allowed the college to reconnect with its alumni, recognize their accomplishments, and strengthen the college’s relationship with its former students. The event was full of nostalgia, and all the alumni will have fond memories of the occasion.

On March 4th, 2023, the SAKEC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION held a successful SAKEC Annual Alumni Meet in a hybrid form named “SAMPARKA 2023” with the objective of reuniting with alumni and strengthening the relationship between the college and its previous students. The Current students performed a drama for our alumni along with amazing dance moves by the silver stepper and melodious SAKEC studio. A photo booth was created with an interesting game called Jenga where alumni could play and perform tasks if they fell down the Jenga pyramid, and take pictures in the photo booth with their classmates and faculties, preserving memories. Dinner was served in the canteen area, where alumni could catch up with old friends and acquaintances. The event ended with a DJ event in the college foyer area. Overall, SAMPARKA 2023 was a successful event that allowed the alumni to reconnect with their college days, recognize their accomplishments, and strengthen the college’s relationship with its former students. The event was full of nostalgia, and those in attendance will have fond memories of the occasion.

Alumni Meet SAMPARKA 2021

The SAKEC Alumni Association proudly hosted the SAKEC Annual Alumni Meet, SAMPARKA-2021, on August 28, 2021. The event was conducted online via the Microsoft Teams platform, allowing alumni from different corners of the globe to participate and reconnect. A remarkable total of 188 alumni joined this virtual gathering.

The highlight of the event was the heartfelt sharing of experiences by numerous alumni, who recounted their professional journeys, personal achievements, and memorable moments at SAKEC. Their stories resonated with all participants, fostering a sense of nostalgia and camaraderie.

Adding to the event’s charm was a captivating musical performance by the talented artists from SAKEC Studio. Their renditions of popular songs and soulful melodies created a delightful atmosphere, making the virtual meet an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Overall, SAMPARKA-2021 was a resounding success, bringing together SAKEC alumni from around the world to celebrate their shared history and forge new connections.
