Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisages a Digital India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and put governance within everyone’s reach in India. In order to work towards our PM’s vision, Smart India Hackathon (SIH) has been created. It is a unique Open Innovation Model for identifying new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. It’s a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems statements can be posed to technology students for innovative solutions. It can help to,

Counseling Session on Developing Professional Skills. July 2024

 

 

On 4th July 2024, SAKEC Counselor, Ms. Hitakshi Joshi conducted a session for Final Year Electronics and Computer Science students, to develop their Professional Skills.

She guided the students on how to face the interviewer confidently, also equipping them with verbal & non-verbal communication skills. This training would help them to work in the future with fellow colleagues. It is very essential to gain professional skills before entering into the corporate world, so the importance of focusing on not just on their attitude, but also their presentation, was discussed.

Parent Teacher Meet on 20th July 2024

20th July 2024 witnessed the confluence of parents and teachers of the Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology) department, for the Parent-Teacher meeting at the 4th floor seminar hall between 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. HoD, Prof Nibha Desai, and the faculty of the department briefed the parents and students on the things to come in the near future pertaining to the rules of attendance, discipline and overall student conduct, curriculum exam scheme under autonomy, teaching-learning processes, methods adopted, and various other aspects of the engineering course along with the respective additional Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities to be conducted in the due course of time. Finally, the Event concluded with a visit to the 210 VLSI lab, where parents could see for themselves, and be assured about the Lab infrastructure and facilities available to foster the efficient teaching-learning process for the rigorous course of engineering.

 

Parent Teaching Meeting – July 2024

 

Parent – teacher meeting of our department was held on 6th July 2024 , from 10.30 am onwards in 3rd floor classrooms.

Dr Subha Subramaniam, HOD  of the department welcomed all & gave a brief idea about the autonomy curriculum structure and its benefits. Department Examination Committee (DEC) informed details about exam rules, exam scheme, exam conductions as well as passing criteria for all exams.

“Project and Publication Guidance Event” July 2024

Our Department organized a session “Project and Publication Guidance”, on 18th July 2024 at 2 PM, for all students of ECS department. Total 181 students attended the session. The venue for this session was 7th-floor Auditorium.

This session was organized to guide the students in proper selection of project problem statement. This will give more reliable solutions to real-life and societal problems. The main aim was to encourage students to do more hardware/software projects which will help them to develop a practical skill set.

The session was conducted by Mr. Aaditya Aurobindo and Dr. Sarika Bukkawar.

Mr. Aadity Aurobindo, a Researcher at IIT, guided students about the importance of projects in improving their employability skills for a fruitful career. He interacted with the students by sharing his experience of handling different research projects under IIT Kanpur and IIT Bombay. Various aspects related to proper literature review, and selection of components/software for projects was discussed. Dr. Sarika Bukkawar talked about publication of project work. She thoroughly guided them about how to do literature survey and find gaps in recent research as problem statement. She shared information about benefits of good publications, good journals and also how to find suitable publisher for your problem statement.

The internship aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry applications, giving students a competitive edge in their future careers.

Awareness session on VLSI

The Awareness session on VLSI Design and Technology was conducted by the Department of Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology) in Vidya Prasarak Mandal Polytechnic (VPM) college, Thane on 16th April 2024. The session aimed to provide the students with awareness about VLSI Design and job opportunities in the VLSI domain. Prof. Reshma Patil brief about the concepts of VLSI design flow. Prof. Ashwini Jagtap explained about job Opportunities and recent projects announced by the government in VLSI Domain. The student’s response was amazing for the session and they were excited to hear about new domains and opportunities in the future.

Overview: The industrial visit conducted by Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College was a collaborative effort between the Department of Electronics and Computer Science and the Department of Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology). The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to industries relevant to their field of study. The visit spanned from 29th February to 3rd March 2024, with visits to prominent companies in Ahmedabad.

Industrial Visits:

1. EInfochips, An Arrow Company Ahmedabad: Date: 1st March 2024 Industry Focus: Semiconductor IC and Chip Design Representatives: Mr. Bhavin Kakani and Mr. Dipesh Panchal

The visit to EInfochips, a leading company specializing in semiconductor IC and chip design, provided students with valuable insights into the latest trends and technologies in VLSI. Mr. Bhavin Kakani and Mr. Dipesh Panchal delivered an informative session, focusing on chip and IC design, as well as emerging trends in VLSI. Their expertise and practical examples helped students grasp complex concepts and understand real-world applications.

2. GVK Healthcare Services: Date: 2nd March 2024 Industry Focus: Real-time Medical Emergencies and Server Telecommunication

The visit to GVK Healthcare Services offered students exposure to real-time medical emergency management and server telecommunication systems. Through interactive sessions and demonstrations, students gained insights into the integration of technology in healthcare and telecommunications sectors. The visit facilitated a deeper understanding of how electronics and computer science principles are applied in critical industries.

Learning Experience: The industrial visit provided students with a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. By witnessing first-hand the operations and technologies used in industry settings, students gained a deeper understanding of their field of study. TechVision – Project Poster Presentation Competition 2024

The Electronics & Telecommunication Department, in collaboration with IETE SAKEC and IETE-CoE, orchestrated the “Oscillations 2024” technical poster presentation interdepartmental competition on April 3rd, 2024, starting from 10:30 am. The event served as a platform for undergraduate students across diverse academic disciplines to showcase their research acumen and technical prowess.

Judging the competition were Mr. Amey Gawde, Manager at Reliance Jio, and Mr. Rakshith Poojary, Senior Analyst at Accenture. A total of 38 participants, comprising nine groups of Final Year EXTC students and two groups of Third Year EXTC, presented their project work through poster presentations. The assessment criteria included the novelty of ideas, poster quality, project implementation, and the clarity of presentation..

Industrial Visit Ahmedabad – March 2024

An industrial visit was conducted by our department in collaboration with the Department of Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology), to eInfochips(An Arrow Company) Ahmedabad on 1st March 2024 and to GVK Healthcare Services, Ahmedabad on 2nd March 2024.

eInfochips is a leading company specializing in semiconductor IC, IOT, AIML, Security, Sensors, Wireless, Cloud and Power. Students were encouraged with valuable insights into the latest trends and technologies in VLSI. GVK Healthcare Services
offered students exposure to real-time medical emergency management and server telecommunication systems. The visits were conducted under the valuable guidance of Dr. Subha Subramaniam and Prof. Nibha Desai.

Counselling Session for B.E- March 2024

Our Counsellor/Psychologist Ms. Hitakshi Vyas Joshi conducted a workshop on Professional Communication Skills for our BE students on 21st March 2024.

The session was organized to train our BE students on how to achieve their desired outcome by enhancing their communication skills and how to ace job interviews. Furthermore, the counsellor conducted mock interviews among the
students so that they could reflect on their performance and do better during their placement. This motivated them to perform better in their job interview.

The counsellor also emphasized on company ethics, dress code, and how to present oneself in one’s company. She also guided the students on how their verbal as well as their non-verbal communication impacts their interview. To conclude the session, she motivated the students to practice their skills and gave tips on how to crack the interview.

ISRO Industrial Visit, March 2024

The Industrial Visit organized by IETE SAKEC and the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department of Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College from February 29 to March 7, 2024, provided an enriching experience for 37 students. Mr. Rohan Borgalli and Ms. Amisha Bhoir were the dedicated faculty coordinators throughout the journey.

In this Industrial Visit, Students delved into a world of exploration and learning. Highlights included visits to iconic landmarks like the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Jatayu Earth Centre, and Vivekananda Rock Memorial, as well as an immersive experience at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Tamil Nadu. The students attended interactive sessions with ISRO scientists, gaining invaluable insights into space propulsion technology. Beyond the technical, they explored historical sites like Vattakottai Fort and enjoyed serene moments at Kovalam Beach and Alleppey Boating.

The industrial visit served as a valuable opportunity for students to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, fostering a deeper understanding of their fields of study. As we departed, the memories and insights gained during this journey would undoubtedly contribute to our academic and personal growth.

Objective:

The event aimed to foster innovation in cutting-edge technology by providing participants with opportunities to engage in a Technical Paper Writing Workshop and a Presentation Competition. It sought to enhance participants’ skills in crafting compelling technical papers using LATEX and presenting innovative projects effectively.

A total of 30 students from various departments attended the event, representing a diverse range of interests and expertise within SAKEC.

Speaker:

Dr. Pramod Bhavarthe, an Eminent Researcher, conducted the Technical Paper Writing Workshop. His expertise and insights enriched the learning experience for the participants.

Event Overview:

  • Technical Paper Writing Workshop:
    • The workshop commenced at 10:30 AM with Dr. Pramod Bhavarthe providing valuable insights and techniques for crafting compelling technical papers using LATEX.
    • Participants learned about the structure of technical papers, effective writing styles, and tips for enhancing the quality of their research papers.
    • Practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises enabled participants to apply the concepts learned during the workshop.
  • Presentation Competition:
    • Following the workshop, participants engaged in a Presentation Competition where they showcased their innovative projects to a panel of esteemed judges and fellow participants.
    • Each participant was given a designated time slot to present their projects, followed by a Q&A session where judges and peers provided feedback and asked questions.
    • Presentations covered a diverse range of topics, including advancements in electronics, telecommunications, and related fields.
    • Participants demonstrated their communication skills, technical knowledge, and innovative thinking through engaging presentations.

Key Outcomes:

  • Participants gained valuable insights into technical paper writing techniques and LATEX formatting.
  • The Presentation Competition provided a platform for participants to showcase their innovative projects and receive constructive feedback.
  • Interaction with peers and judges facilitated knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.

Industrial Visit to Bhabha Atomic Research Center Mumbai on 18th March 2024.

Our department organized an industrial visit to BARC on 18th March 2024.We visited the Remote Handling and Robotics Lab and Reactor control room. The research undertaken at each of the facility was explained by the concerned scientists.
Numerous robots for diversified applications were demonstrated to the students. The spot picker robot for Proteomics,6 DOF parallel manipulator, Automation systems for nuclear fuel fabrication facilities, remote handling systems for nuclear power plants, imaging technologies for medical applications were some of the highlights.
Dhruv Reactor model was illustrated to us. This model depicted the detailed working of a nuclear reactor. We had a first-hand experience of visiting a nuclear reactor control room.
Interacting with eminent scientists of BARC was really a wonderful experience for faculty and students. The visit has kindled the quest for scientific knowledge, especially in the field of robotics among our students. 36 students along with 3 staff visited BARC. The visit was organized by Prof Salabha Jacob and Mr. Amar Chouhan was the student coordinator.
